|The Project chartfield is a seven-character alphanumeric value which assists in uniquely identifying and tracking financial activity for a discrete set of activities, initiatives or projects. The Project is often associated with a person that is responsible or accountable for the activity, and usually has a specific beginning and ending date. Project is a required field on revenue, expense, and transfer transactions.
A single Project can be shared across Dept IDs for common activities (fundraising, continuing medical education, SFGH professional fees, UCSF clinical, UCSF residents, outside consulting), or multiple separate Projects may be established to differentiate owners of distinct activities.
