How MyTime Handles Daylight Saving Time End on November 2, 2025
MyTime ensures accurate hour calculations for shifts spanning the DST change on Sunday, November 2.
As we approach the end of Daylight Saving Time (DST) on Sunday, November 2, we want to provide clarity and reassurance about how MyTime calculates hours for shifts that span this time change. MyTime is programmed to accurately calculate and pay for the actual hours worked during overnight shifts when DST begins or ends.
What Happens When Daylight Saving Time Ends?
This year, Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 2, at 1:59 a.m. At this moment, the clock “falls back” to 1:00 a.m., meaning the 1:00 a.m. hour is repeated. This creates a 25-hour day instead of the usual 24-hour day.
How Does MyTime Handle DST End?
MyTime ensures that the correct number of hours worked is calculated and paid, including on-call time and any shift differentials. MyTime will automatically add one hour to any worked or on-call shift that spans 1 – 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2.
Here’s an example to illustrate what employees will see on their timecard:
If an employee punches in on Saturday, November 1, at 11 p.m. and out at 5 a.m. on November 2:
- The first segment of time is 11 p.m. to 1:59 a.m., which equals 3 hours.
- At 1:59 a.m., the clock rolls back to 1:00 a.m., repeating the 1:00 a.m. hour for an additional 1 hour.
- The final segment, from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., adds 3 hours.
MyTime correctly calculates the total time as 7 hours.
