June 2026 Compensatory Time Off (CTO/CTU) Election Open Period

Eligible employees can complete annual CTO/CTU elections in MyTime from June 1 through June 30, 2026.

The annual June 2026 Compensatory Time Off (CTO/CTU) election period in MyTime will be open from June 1, through June 30, 2026, for eligible non-exempt employees (excluding NX/CNA employees).

The CTO Job Aid provides step-by-step instructions for completing a CTO/CTU election in MyTime during onboarding, eligibility changes, or the annual election period. Employees who need assistance completing their CTO election should contact the Controller’s Office Solution Center.

Explore information below about elections completed in MyTime, CTU or “Comp Holiday”, and CTO or “Comp Time” designations:

  • CTO/CTU elections are completed electronically in MyTime. Once the eligibility period opens, employees will see a link to the “Comp Election for New Hire or FLSA Change” form within the Business Processes tile on the MyTime home page.
  • CTU, or “Comp Holiday,” allows eligible employees to bank holiday hours instead of receiving holiday pay when working a full shift on a holiday. Hours worked will be paid, while the holiday hours will be credited to the employee’s CTU bank.
  •  CTO, or “Comp Time,” allows eligible employees to bank overtime hours instead of receiving overtime pay. Eligible employees may elect CTO in lieu of overtime payout at the time of hire and during the annual election period, in accordance with applicable collective bargaining agreements.

The following guidance details revised rules and timelines for shift differential payments, CTO balance reduction and payouts, leave usage during CTO paydown periods, and annual MyTime CTO elections.

  • Shift differentials earned for overtime worked during evening or night shifts will be paid on the same paycheck in which the CTO hours are earned. As a result, shift differentials are no longer paid when CTO hours are used. This change applies only to employees in shift-differential-eligible job codes.
  • During CTO paydown or payout, all balances in the employee’s CTO bank will be processed in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement(s). Approved time off scheduled prior to the paydown or payout date may still be taken. In these situations, employees may use available vacation leave, other accrued leave balances, or unpaid leave, as appropriate.
  • Employees’ CTO balances will automatically be reduced to 100 hours each pay period once the balance reaches 120 hours.
  • CTO elections occur annually through MyTime in accordance with collective bargaining agreements.

Election periods are:

  • March 14 – April 15 for NX employees
  • June 1 – June 30 for all other union-represented and policy-covered employees
