We currently maintain funding designations and funding changes for UCSF Health employees in the timekeeping system (HBS), while we maintain funding designations for campus employees in the payroll system (OLPPS). In November 2017, we will begin moving towards using the payroll system as the common source for all employee funding designations.
What is not changing?
- Within HBS, employees will maintain the ability to directly charge hours to different cost centers on their timesheet.
- UCSF Health managers will continue to send requests for changes to employee funding designations to HR.
What is changing?
In January 2018, UCSF Health managers and support staff will begin to use the campus Payroll Expense Transfer (PET) process to move costs recorded in a prior period. UCSF Health managers and support staff who today request payroll expense transfers via email or by submitting Time Maintenance Forms (TMFs) will instead submit the Payroll Expense Transfer Uploader (PETU) form. Use of the PETU will provide greater visibility of the transferred expenses and payroll transfers will be more precise (transferring all associated benefit amounts).
UCSF Health managers and support staff will be introduced to the PET process and related reports beginning in the January 2018. Online information about the PET process and a link to the PETU form is currently available on the Controller’s Office website.
