We’re excited to announce anticipated changes to the AV Tool, addressing department feedback on certification requirements for non-federal awards.  

A project is underway to eliminate certification requirements for non-federal sponsored awards and to separate the display of federal and non-federal awards in the tool. These updates will streamline processes, reduce workloads, and enhance efficiency, enabling departments and Principal Investigators (PIs) to concentrate on federally funded projects while minimizing administrative burdens. What’s Changing?

• Non-Federal Awards: Certification will no longer be required once the enhancement is implemented.
• Federal Awards: These will remain in the certification workflow and open verification queue to maintain compliance standards.
• Redesigned Layout: The AV Tool will feature clear, streamlined tabs for the following award types:
  • Open Verifications (Federal Awards)
  • Non-Federal Awards
  • Total Sponsor Awards
  • Non-Sponsored Projects

Timeline

The project team will complete system configuration and testing in February, with a planned go-live date of March 9, 2026.

How You Can Help

To ensure a smooth transition, we need your support to help complete overdue certifications. Please work with your Pis to finalize all overdue certifications for non-federal awards before the enhancement is implemented.
