Updated Training for Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS)

We are pleased to announce a new release of the UCSF PCI DSS Security Awareness Training covering the latest Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS Version 3.2.1). PCI security awareness training is a component of UCSF’s security awareness training program and is required annually for anyone who handles credit cards or has access to credit card information. The updated training takes approximately 20 minutes to complete and can be accessed in the UC Learning Center by searching for "PCI DSS".

Credit card handlers who have completed the previous version of this training do not need to re-certify prior to their current certification expiration date. They will receive an automatic reminder when annual training is due, along with instructions on how to access the updated course.

  • In order to receive automatic reminders of when training is due, managers and supervisors must assign the training to appropriate staff in the UC Learning Center.
  • If assigned staff choose to complete the updated version of the training earlier than their scheduled expiration date, the annual certification renewal date will be adjusted accordingly.

If you have questions about the PCI DSS Security Awareness Training including whether you need to complete the training, contact UCSF Merchant Services. More information about handling credit cards is available on the Controller's Office website. If you have technical difficulties or questions about using the UC Learning Center, contact Controller's Office Training Manager Michael Burgess.
