Recent Leadership Appointments in the Controller’s Office

The Controller’s Office is pleased to announce the following recent leadership appointments.

Ellyn McCaffrey has been appointed Assistant Controller, Contracts & Grants Accounting. Ellyn joined UCSF in 2009 and has been serving in this position on an interim basis since January 2020. During that time, she has made significant contributions to the successes of Contracts & Grants Accounting (CGA) and the Controller’s Office as a whole. In this position, her responsibilities include leading post-award management and financial oversight of UCSF’s sponsored research enterprise, assuring compliance with all federal and state research standards and regulations, and coordinating student loan collections and non-payroll stipend payments.

Shylah Conway-Hamilton has been appointed Assistant Controller, Strategic Initiatives. Since joining UCSF in 2010, Shylah has held manager and director positions within the Controller’s Office, most recently as the Director of Payroll. She has lead UCSF through major payroll initiatives, including the UCPath and HBS implementations. In this position, Shylah leads strategic project management, including the design and implementation of new and improved financial systems and business processes to meet critical UCSF financial reporting, planning, compliance, and business information needs. Her responsibilities include leading the Controller’s Office Solution Center and overseeing external communications.
