The UCPath roadmap project to improve the user experience and reduce the complexity of the salary cost transfer process is delayed. The timeline is being extended due to delays in development and the need for significant defect remediation. The extended timeline will also ensure sufficient time for testing and to prepare system users for this change. A new go-live date is under discussion between locations and the UCPath Center.
While the delay means we must continue to work within the limitations of the current Direct Retro tool a bit longer, the new timeline will allow for more time for testing by central teams and campus department users to surface and correct issues prior to implementation.
What Salary Cost Transfer Initiators and Approvers can do now to prepare for the redesign
We encourage departments to take action now to review and complete all transfers required on paychecks prior to October 2021.
To address data accuracy and system performance issues, the redesigned process will simplify how earnings data are sourced to provide consistent results between what is displayed on salary cost transfer pages and what is contained in the Distribution of Payroll Expense (DPE). As a result of this change, the new process will be performed using a new salary cost transfer tool in UCPath. The new tool cannot be used to transfer earnings recorded before October 1, 2021 or to transfer expenses previously transferred using the current Direct Retro process and tool.
The current Direct Retro tool will remain available only for a limited time after go-live to allow transactors to address changes to paychecks prior to October 2021 and to previously transferred earnings. Once decommissioned, transactors will lose access to transfer paychecks prior to October 2021 and to redistribute previously transferred earnings.
We will share more information about the revised project timeline and the decommissioning of the current Direct Retro tool as it becomes available. Look for further announcements about system demonstrations and training opportunities beginning in December 2022.
